Last year the Verdes Foundation gave back to our community in a number of ways.
We supported organizations that work in social justice, education, animal welfare, and patient support groups to enhance their mission and reach in our community. Local organizations such as The Albuquerque Center for Peace and Justice, New Day Youth & Family Services, and Casa Esperanza received funding through our Community Friday grant program.
2018 also marked the launched of our new bag credit program that allows patients to skip the bag at the register and instead donate the .15 they saved on their purchase to one of three selected organizations. In the same “going green” lens we also recycled over 400 pounds of cannabis containers thanks to our patients who participated in our recycling program!
MOPS – MEDICALLY ORPHANED PETS
VERDES MEDICALLY ORPHANED PETS PROGRAM
This year, we are excited to continue our spirit of giving. We are building new partnerships to support the MOPs (Medically Orphaned Pets) program which helps foster pets who have been orphaned due to their owner’s deteriorating health. These new partnerships allow us to quickly find new homes for these pets. If you are interested in becoming a forever home to a MOPs pet, tap here to let us know and we will keep your information on file as new opportunities arise.
IN-STORE TOKEN DONATION PROGRAM
We will also continue to fund local social profits (non-profits) through our in-store token donation program! Applications are now open for this in-store funding opportunity. Our in-store program will replace our Community Friday’s grant program and allow us to share more information about each selected group with our patients. The primary funding areas for our in-store Community Giving are social justice and community agriculture. A total of three organizations will be selected and featured throughout the year in our dispensaries. Our patients will have an opportunity to learn about the programming and services that each organization provides. You can access the application here.
We also have limited sponsorship opportunities for organizations that are doing great work in our community. These sponsorships support organizations focused on social justice, agriculture, health & wellness, and the arts. You can apply for sponsorship support by tapping here.
EDUCATE TO ELEVATE: COLLABORATIVE GRANT
Though our priority funding priorities are social justice and agriculture, we are also support education through our partnership with the New Mexico Funders Collaborative. This unique collaborative awards a $50,000 grant to one organization that supports education initiatives throughout New Mexico. Tap here to learn more about the New Mexico Funders Collaborative and when the 2019 grant cycle will open.
Verdes’ ability to give back comes directly from the patients who continue to trust us with their cannabis needs. We are grateful for your support of the work that we do for patients and beyond!
